A Barbershop with Aids and A Girl in
White Pants.
Sitting around the barbershop recently I felt a
strange sensation when the subject of aids came up. The prevailing attitude in
the shop seem to be that aids was developed to eradicate the Black race. I sit
stunned by the silence; you could hear a pin drop when this conversation came up
but soon it became alive and albeit a dose of reality.
Having visited barber shops all over America, I
have never experienced such garbage being discussed. Being a proponent of
self-imposed celibacy, this conversation shocked me into a reality mode. Aids
continues to kill people. What can we do to stem this tide of self
destruction?
What we need is basic leadership of each
individual. You see Black folks, we are killing ourselves. The KKK,
Slavery, Police, Wars and all the other calamities
that have been inflicted on Blacks in America can't begin to compete with
this deadly disease we call Aids. All this non-sense in the barbershop about
Rosa Parks, Jesse Jackson and MLK involving a crazy, yet entertaining movie is a
waste of energy and time. I implore all our so-called leaders, including the
leader of your personal life(YOU) to stop this abhorrent behavior.
A recent study conducted for DC&PC Centers for
Disease Control and Prevention, states that one in three men who have sex with
men are HIV infected. Now, "Hold the Hell Up". When did we reach such loftily
status that having sex with men is so widely accepted? Statistics such as these
mean that more young black homosexuals men are infected with HIV than any other
place in the world except some remote place in Africa.
Now is the time to stop this nonsensical attitude
and get our heads out of the sand and start fighting this disease, by
taking a close look at our behavior and the behavior of those around us. This is
one problem we can't lay at the footsteps of the white man. The most
disturbing fact is most of our community seems unwilling to even
discuss this idea of these shenanigans..
Trash the nonsense about having unprotected
sex, why are men having sex with men unprotected or not? Is man sharing part of
this equation?This behavior has led to an epidemic of females becoming infected
with Aids.
Consider this:
A. Black youngster comprise nearly 66% of all Aids
cases among children in these United States.
B. Among women, 64% of all new Aids cases in
America is Black women.
C. Black brothers represent 42% of all new cases
among men in the USA.
D. Why are black youths between the ages of 13-19
accounting for 61% of adolescent cases when they represent only 15% of the
adolescent population? The theories emulating from the barbershop suggests that
we blame someone else, but brothers and sisters, let's get it right before we
kill off a whole race. It is as simple as self behavior, that's
right.
First and foremost, Black women, STOP sleeping with
Black men.
The next time you say "No" might save your
life!
If men insist on sleeping with men, it's time for
all our community to insist that this moral depravity life-altering
behavior and conpunnences of such dastardly behavior must cease. We are
simply doing what others could never do. Racism, poverty, age, sex cannot be
blamed for this quagmire we are in. The immorality of ignorance can never be
excuses for this situation.
As always the barbershop continues to be a place
with many ideas about how to cure the problems of the world. On this particular
day, most of the conversation revolved around "Red", the resident fool who has
spent most of his adult lie in prison. The guys teased Red about the possibility
of him having Aids. A man of limited education, Red explained that he was 99%
sure he didn't have Aids because every time he went to prison, he would hang a
sign around his neck stating that he had Aids and was willing to have sex
with anyone for a pack of Kools, and every single time he was imprisoned, not a
single inmate had attempted to hook up with old Red. His advice to Black people
is to run like hell from sex, don't just say "No", scream "Hell
No!!!
It is my policy to query every single woman I meet
about whether she is seeing, has seen or plans to see any man who;s been in
prison and explain the risk involved with them.If she says "No", I suggest that
I just got out of prison and if she still want to talk to me, I run like Forest
Gump because I want to live my life until I'm old.
Slowly the patrons of the barbershop rose and gave
Red a standing ovation, but just when I thought this conversation produced
positive interaction, a young woman in a pair of white low cut jeans walked by
and everyone ran to the window to peep, even the barber cutting my
hair.
Seeing this, RED shook his head slowly and
muttered, It's not the White Man, It's the White
Pants that's killing our future.

Regime Change A Light Hearted View

I have always prided myself on being the consummate non-partisan person with the ability to separate the rhetoric of our politicians from the mere facts of reality. This war fever that's sweeping Washington is causing me great concern. Regime change is a nasty word to me. I have sat by and watched, George Wallace, Ian Smith, Adi Amin, Ross Barnett, General Noriega, Castro, Qadhafi, Ariel Sharon and a host of otherwise evil, hateful men rule, kill, disrespect and deny people basic civil rights, yet, we never have uttered anything about regime change. And why don't we just slip in the back waters of Cuba and send Castro packing? What is this selected method of wanting to go thousands of miles away to bother a despot whom his people don't have the guts to remove. If he is such a bad person, his people should remove him. ***The damn world is going crazy with this blame everything on someone else. We just witnessed a bunch of Billionaire and Millionaire Baseball People bickering into a strike mode about billions of dollars of baseball money. The small market owners wanted the players to protect them from their partners in the large markets by agreeing to a salary cap to prevent their partners from paying players too much money. This is utterly nonsense. Why can't they just have some restraint and be men enough to handle their own affairs.*** Ask yourself how many of the terrorist that attacked the WTC were from Iraq? Why don't we just slap the hell out of the Saudis and remove the Crown Prince? I shiver at the thought of India, Pakistan, Israel having their bloody hands on nuclear weapons. The Chinese scare me like holy hell also. Former President Bush did the right thing by leaving Saddam alone. Now along comes Jr., and he is acting like he is getting his marching orders from the Knesset. Scud missiles did not deter the Israelis in the Gulf War and it's about time we left the Middle East to those people and let them solve their own problems. Big government is bad business and getting involved with Saddam Hussein is bringing more big government into play by activating the war machine. We would be better off having a regime change in our government and business sector. Invade the board rooms and kick these high paid executives to the curb and put into affect term limits for those band of thieves in DC and our State House. Talk to the 2 million folks who have lost their jobs about when they can get back to work and feed their families. If we put as much scrutiny on terrorists as we do OJ, Bill, Monica and President Bush's little winos, we could have ole Bin Laden corralled in a matter of days. We live in a world where we know who is sleeping with whom, who is gay, who beats their wives, who smokes dope, we can't make men pay child support, stop racial profiling, and the war on drugs is a joke and yet we want to take on a man who is not afraid of us. These terrorists have altered our life to no return and we should be hunting them down instead warmongering and talking silly. If the people in the region want change, let them go find ole Bin Laden. We need to lock up the main terrorists of the past 30 years, Ariel Sharon and Arafat. Get these two nuts out of the equation and things will get better. If oil is our motive, let's do like Michael Jordan; just take the ball/oil. Why don't we turn lose all the women whose baby's father will not pay child support and have them hunt ole Bin down.. by Loo Oates Jr. Living Black!! Buying White!! Black Folks should be ashamed! For the last time, I'm sick of hearing you fools talk about supporting Black Owned Businesses! I have made a starling discovery. If you drive by any number of churches on a Sunday morning, most (I emphasize most for you integrating churches ), approximately 99% of the congregation is Black, excusing the Mega TV Pimps. After dressing up and getting the word from your chief and leaving a little cash as the church dictates you should do, you're a happy soul, fellowshipping with mostly Black folks. Now fast forward to Monday, and you go back to moaning and groaning about how the white man and foreigners treat you. The leaders of your church should be tossed out with the garbage, your preacher, your board of trustees, your mothers and the whole sorry bunch. You play such a vital role of being hypocritical that you also need help. It's Monday and as I past most, ( I emphasize Most ) Black churches that I have observed. I see white men working on the roof, cleaning the yards, and getting all that money you left with the church. One should always seek the best when deciding to do business with someone, and it seems that you love the Black preacher, who is well dressed, articulate, successful, respected and living the good life doing God's work. He should be all these things for his efforts but where would he be if some hard working Black person had not dropped some hard earned cash in that collection plate? You may have worked hard for that money, used child support, family money or alimony but the bottom line is that you use Black folks money or the government's money. Now good CHRISTIANS, please tell me why you exhibit such self hatred that you can't seem to find a Black person to do work for a congregation that is 99% Black? Please read this and re-read it again, so there's no confusion about supporting a Black Owned Business that does not or can not deliver. You would be a blatant fool to use an incompetent person to do work for you. Just as it's utterly foolish to use a white contractor to do work because he's white. You are leaving a legacy for your children to follow, just as our parents left one for us. Give your hard earned cash to someone else and leave the high paying jobs to our entertainers, sports figures and drug dealers, but legitimate businesses don't deserve your cash. Why do you go to Dope Dealers, Preachers, Entertainers, Sporting Events? I'll tell you why, these individuals work hard at what they do and you work hard to seek them out and do business with them. When was the last time you bought a Willie Nelson CD, let your local white funeral director bury you mama, daddy or other love ones? Black folks never return to the old neighborhood unless they come for church, the barber shop, beauty shop or to be buried. You might live in the Burb, but sister Jolean does the best hair in town and you insist that she buy the weaves from the (you know where store). The barber shop continues to be another segregated place and entertainment center. No matter what fancy restaurant you dine in, you usually come home to big mamas or the soul food kitchen to eat well. Now, you have to drive well so you buy a nice car ( which you deserve ) but who do you buy your car from? Look around and see what type of vehicle is parked in front of your house or in your yard and the chances are you bought it from a non-black person and insured it with a non-black agent. Yet the car manufacture and insurance companies stand by their product based on a pre-determined service and have a pre-determined cost, so it doesn't matter who you buy it from. Being that every Black person you meet is an instant expert on Black Owned Businesses, put some of that vast knowledge to work and recommend the good businesses you know and the next time you try to tell a ignorant friend about them slap the living hell out of them and tell them to lose that slave mentality. Try this on for thought. If you took the combined money that's left in your churches in one year and banked it, you would have the 8th largest bank in America. Ummm. Most preachers drive Cadillac's, Lincoln's, Lexus or some other high volume vehicle. There's driving and there is driving well. The economy is fueled on sales and if these preachers sought out Black Salesmen and Black Dealers think how well they could live and recycle that money. They can still be in good hands and have a friend at Allstate in the truest sense of the word. One more time. ( Seek out and buy from the COMPETENT). Through hard work and Christians doctrines we have survived. Now you can stop carping and complaining about others not treating you with respect. About Black Men

The media would love for us to believe that all black men think black women are gold digging hoochie mama's, and all black women think black men are no good dogs. In all honesty nobody loves as hard, as strong, and as long as black men. Our love endures poverty, racism, and everything else they have tried to throw at us. So I would like to school you on something. Trying to compare other men to Black Men is like trying to compare a Pinto to a Rolls Royce. Both are modes of transportation and will get you to your point of destination, but we all know that a Rolls is a Automobile and a Pinto is a Car. You must understand that no matter what comes our way we will always overcome bad (mouthing)relation-ships, hanging, police beatdowns, racial slurs, negative attitudes because we are strong, courageous and proud. Instead of watching "BET" for hours, our people should get into the history books and look up the many Black men who was hanged or jailed simply because they were Black". Through all this and many other attempts to destroy us we still survive. If I sound angry, you are barking up the wrong tree, because PITY is what I have for you the people (Media Types) perpetrating this non-sense. You seem to not understand what trials and tribulations BM go through. That is why so many BM live for today and anticipate tomorrow. The black man is still hunted and the victims of verbal castration as well as mental death penalty actions by society as a whole. These known facts are so pervasive, I want to cry, but laughing will mask the anger. Lets see... We worked hard. Educated ourselves. Have high moral values and want to buy a house? Want to live where our kids are safe and we can enjoy life .Sorry, your neighborhood's redlined. So we work hard, train a new employee, but when the promotion is available, the new employee you trained (that happens to be white) is promoted and not you. Your kid not learning what you think s/he should? Maybe your neighborhood isn't the getting the kind of education funding the white neighborhoods are...Hell no.. So you aspire for better things and get slapped in the face. These are not excuse, yet we endure. There are a lot of sorry men in this world and the BM doesn't have a patent on it. All these things are surmountable. You find a friendly bank, you get another job, you give your child a love of learning so s/he will seek knowledge. Sure, you do what you have to do to make your life and those of your loved ones better. But what does all that stress do to you? Herein lies the problem. The mental Slavery is still going on and has taken
devastating affects that might be irreversible.You have to work harder because
you're not white. What does that do to you on the inside? We have some of the
highest rates of hypertension. We have shorter life expectancies. You can work
and you can strive and you can accept that this is an unequal playing field and
you have to make allowances - work harder, excel at whatever you do. Doesn't all
that stress make you ready to snap? Can that be why our families are struggling,
the stress? The aggravation? The rage? I think we ARE dealing as best we can.
Some deal better than others. But it's not like you had a leg amputated and you
have to figure out how to get along with just the one. This is a life time of
past generations that we haven't been able to shake. These actions are passed
down from generation after generations and it will live into eternity. We don't
Rise, "We stay Afloat" Its amazing how we still hold our head up high after all
we have been put you through. We still have limited rights, yet hold up under
pressure, and our strength can never be measured. We have been told no to
education, voting, and so much more. Yes we cry and bleed trying to survive, but
don't you underestimate me because I'm a Black Man. We are in this thing for the
long haul.

One day he is bashing businesses like mad, and at the same time Ole Joe Liberman is trotting over to tell business people not to take him serious; it's just politics. Gore rants and raves about the entertainment industry and then gets hush-hush when he attends their megabucks fundraisers and laps and sucks at their troughs of ready cash. Folks, if this guy is elected, you can bet that the "Lincoln Bedroom" will be up for rental and you and I need not apply.Recently, President Clinton placed a courteous call to tennis star Venus Williams. Note!!! He wanted no part of Ole Richard, but with Venus and Serena,the apple didn't fall far from the tree. She politely asked him if she could keep a little more of the $800,000 winning and being the "great" dancer he is, Clinton told her that Congress should do something--even though she asked him and it never occurred to him nor did it matter that she is in that mega income level ole Al wants to tax to death. To experiencehow Venus feels, try making $80.00 today on your job and come Friday your boss tries giving you less than 50%. Hell riots would break out all over America and you would act like you work for the Post Office. Al claims to be a pseudo-intellectual, but he doesn't know that Black people don't care much for intellectuals. We prefer a gusty, lying, hip guy like Bill. Now Ole Al flat out stretched the truth about his mother-in-law, Margaret Ann Atecheson("With a name like that, she should be charged extra, paying $108 a month for the arthritis drug Lodine, while his dog Shiloh gets the drug under another name for $27.00 a month. Folks, please..A dog named Shiloh.. What we have here is a failure to communicate. What Ole Al failed to tell us was that the human dose is much higher than the animal dose. Also the patent has expired and a generic version costs about a quarter of the branded version. Al, we all know a Lexus cost more than a Ford, even though both will get you to the store. Al has a history about embellishing facts about himself and issues. Next thing you know he'll be taking credit for creating the names Jamal and Hotisha and Tyrone. Black voters, wake up. Ole Al is more concerned about winning back the Reagan Democrats and Blue-Collar workers in America.They can't win the average white voter, by business bashing, they have to talk about individuals and appeal to the middle class rather than the poor. We all know that the middle class is so large, the rich so few, and benefits are so expensive; the richwon't pay for it, so you have a higher premium (tax) for Medicare. Now folks that is clever, but reeks of slick Willie doing the James Brown. The tax increase hits all Medicare recipients, not just those who need it. As usual, the middle class will be soaked and will pay it, because they can look down their noses at their poorer brethren and sneer and playa-hate on their rich friends. Al should tell you, black people, that poor people can't pay for things, hell, they have no money in the first place and wouldn't let the government take their money anyway. Have you ever heard of lawyers and accountants, that's what people like Venus Williams have. "Pardon me Bill"
by:Loo Oates Jr. I been catching hell, for the things I did. After absorbing criticism for what seem like a life time, Bill Clinton,--dubbed Slick Willie by many has something to crow about. His departure from office provoked a storm of criticism for granting 150 pardons during his last days in office. What generated most of the complaints was his erasing the case of Mark Rich, a renegade, financier who remained on the lamb for many years. Susan McDougal also made the hair stand up on people's neck, because she failed to admit any wrong doing involving the Clinton's. This woman was jailed repeatedly for failure to cooperate with over-zealous prosecutors investigating the Clinton's. "I been catching hell, for the things I did". Fast forward to the campus of, tiny Virginia Union University and one get the distinct feeling that Bill Clinton is still president. As a life long Republican, who criticized the former president for many things, he has snatched victory from certain defeat in my mind and how I will view his tenure of president. Throughout my criticism of his presidency, I never had a problem with his handling of the economy or other domestic policies with the exception of his failure to embrace and leading congress to pass a bill eliminating police profiling. Now, here are the facts.. Of all the pardons he made, the chicken have come home to roost and they are crowing "LOUD'. One of the last pardons he made was to a young, misguided "KIMBA SMITH" who was given a mandatory sentence for being gullible enough to have a thuggish, dope dealing boyfriend. Being young and stupid as most of us have been in our lifetime, she was jailed because she could not provide information on her boyfriend. Such a travesty of justice is beyond belief . This weekend on the campus of Virginia Union University, Kimba will graduate with honors and continue to seek a law degree. Kimba's success dispels most of the negativity surrounding his other pardons. This young woman worked 2 jobs, graduating with honors and is raising a young son also. She is to be commended for her very existence and fortitude to carry on while"I been catching hell". The little guy cheers Mark Rich, who on most accounts grubbed his stash from not paying the government tax(greedy partners) on some schemes of invested money. The tax people are catching hell and wants sympathy from us. The average joe-blow have to worry about feeding his family, so they don't spend their awaken hours worrying about Susan McDougal. I admire her spirit of friendship. Who wants a friend that tells every damn thing they know? We need to celebrate the success of Kimba Smith, even if it's at the expense of uncle sam not getting his greedy hands on Mark Rich. The conservative think tanks that always complains about our silent partner probably cheers every time Mark Rich's name is mentioned. Kimba's hard work and diligence and spunk has allowed her to erase a mistake made and paid for. Her boyfriend was dead and the prosecutors still wanted her to tell what she knew and it was oblivious that repeated beating and duplicity took its toll on this young mind. Sick Willie remains popular with the masses, and I'm grateful that he pardoned Kimba, not because she was Black, but because it was and still remains the right thing to do, but I have to take one last shot at Bill. Knuckleheads: Killers of Dreams by: Loo Oates Jr. A man should be able to dream if only for a short time in his life. My dreams of a harmonious USA fell today as suddenly as the WTC did on September 11th. Knuckleheads, such as the Rev. Jerry Falwell, Rev. Curtis Gatewood, and University of Virginia's football coach, Al Groh, killed my dreams by uttering downright stupid statements about the state of affairs. The good Rev., speaking from the friendly confines of the 700 Club, blamed these terrorists attacks on the ACLU, Feminists, homosexuals and liberals. Pat Robertson looked on with that sinister face, all but rubber stamped that vile and hateful statement. No sooner had the good Rev, exited center stage, along comes the Rev. Curtis Gatewood, the president of the Durham North Carolina NAACP, releasing a press statement advising Blacks not to participate in the war to stamp out terrorism, because of past racial treatment. Gatewood's ill-timed release gives credence to the fact that hoof 'n mouth disease can affect humans also. The National office of the NAACP head, Kweisi Mufume made it clear that Gatewood did not speak for the NAACP. Not to be outdone, Virginia's head coach, Al Groh intensified the stupidity at a press conference by saying the Virginia football team didn't fear flying because he was not planning on having any ARABS(A-RABS down south) in his traveling party. The University quickly made this fool apologize, but I question the administration of an institution of public learning having people like Groh working with and molding young people's minds.
