Zoe Saldana
Zoe was born in New Jersey on June 19, 1978. At age 10 she moved
with her family from New York City to her parents native country of the Dominican Republic. After returning to the states
during her teens she joined performance troupes in New York City including Faces Theater Co., a group presenting improvisational
and educational skits for teens and New York Youth Theater, where her role in the chorus of "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor
Dreamcoat" caught the attention of an agent.
Zoe’s breakthrough role came in the 2000 film "Center Stage." The
film chronicled the struggles of a group of students at the American Ballet Academy. Zoe’s dance skills were showcased
in her standout turn as Eve, a talented but foul-mouthed non-conformist with a chip on her shoulder. Zoe would later appear
in "Get Over It," "Snipes," "Crossroads" and "Drumline."
